Daniel's prelude
Daniel 9:20-23   And whiles I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the LORD my God for the holy mountain of my God;  21 Yea, whiles I was speaking in prayer, even the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the beginning, being caused to fly swiftly, touched me about the time of the evening oblation 22 And he informed me, and talked with me, and said, O Daniel, I am now come forth to give thee skill and understanding 23 At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.

Seventy weeks = 70 7's = 490
Daniel 9:24-25   24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.25 Know therefore and understandthat from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem...

The Lord gives us two pathways in Daniel 9:24-25 that shows us a clean precise 490 years from the time the command goes out to rebuild Jerusalem until His plan comes to an end with Jesus' ascension and the Elect's rapture.
DANIEL'S  MULTIFACETED  PROPHESY
** Return back to the main Home Page! **
Two prophesies within one

Daniel 9:24-25 speaks of the 490 years from the time Ezra was commandeed to rebuild spiritual Jerusalem by re-establishing God's Law in 458B.C. until Jesus at the Cross and His ascension in 33A.D.. At the end of those 490 years God showed us that Jesus completed the old kingdom (the Temple) and established His new kingdom (the Church).

The prophesy of Daniel 9:24-25 also has a secondary path. This time leading to The End. From the time the command was decreed to rebuild Jerusalem in the year 1535 until the Rapture in 2025 are another fantastic 490 years. This second path mirrors the first path in that at the end of these 490 years Jesus will have completed the old kingdom (earthly kingdom) and establish His new final kingdom (Heavenly Kingdom - new Heaven & Earth).

Jesus' time of testimony
until His ascension in 33

The city is rebuilt
25 Know therefore and understandthat from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

This verse (above) is a precise timeline from the command to rebuild Jerusalem until the start of Jesus' 3 1/2 years of testimony in 29A.D..

God is cut off/city & sanctuary destroyed/flood/desolations
26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

1. God is cut off - Jesus was cut off for 3 days at the Cross
2. The city & sanctuary destroyed - Jesus as the city/sanctuary was destroyed
3. End thereof shall be with a flood - Jesus taught only His disciples afterward for 3 nonconsecutive days, all others were left desolate as with a flood
4. End of the war desolations - year 33 - the war within the Temple is ended and remains desolate as God's salvation plan ends with the Temple with Jesus' ascension

The covenant/sacrifice ceases/desolate until the consummation
27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

1. The covenant with many for one week
The covenant to His disciples and followers during His ministry
Jesus' ministry + time at the Cross [3 1/2 years + 3 days = 7 (1 week)]
2. Sacrifice ceases midst of week
The daily sacrifice ceases halfway through the week
The 3 days of the Cross marks the 2nd half of the "week" when it ceases
3. Desolate until the consummation
The Temple remained desolate as Jesus completes His plan at ascension
Consummation means completion or complete destruction

* We find in scripture that the numbers 3 and 3 1/2 represent the same meaning.
THE PHYSICAL JERUSALEM
The second pathway of 490 years

Daniel 9:24 is a very deep and multifaceted prophesy. The Lord structured the verses in such a way that it foretells many prophesies within different time eras. This second pathway foretells  the decree to rebuild the physical city of Jerusalem. This occurred in the year 1535... 1,465 years after the Romans destroyed it in 70A.D..
Daniel 9:24   Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city...
Daniel 9:25   Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem...

Not only does the prophesy declare the beginning but it also gives the total timing until The End. Seventy 7's (weeks) is a total of 490 years. God gives the Final Day a specific name, the "consummation" which means completion or complete destruction. The time when all sin and the vision comes to an end. From the time the decree went out in 1535 until The End in 2025 will be a total of 490 years.
Daniel 9:24   Seventy weeks (seventy 7's = 490) are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy cityto finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
Daniel 9:27   ...and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolateeven until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

There are an astounding 490 years from the year 1535 when the decree went out to rebuild Jerusalem until the consummation... (The End) in 2025 .

THE SPIRITUAL JERUSALEM
The first pathway of 490 years

It is very important to understand that the first pathway to a complete 490 years begins with Ezra and not Nehemiah. The decree to rebuild Jerusalem pertains to the spiritual Jerusalem which relates to re-establishing God's Law to His people not the physical city.

The following is an excerpt from Harold Camping's book, The 70 weeks of Daniel 9:

Ezra  went  to  Jerusalem  to  build  a  city,  that  is,  to  reestablish the law,
in the year 458 B.C. Christ hung on the cross in A.D. 33. If we  add  458  to  33,
the  sum  is  491.  Subtract  1  from  491 (there is no year 0), and  we  have
490 actual years from the going forth of the command to rebuild the
city to the time of the cross when Christ demonstrated he He brought
in  everlasting  righteousness,  when  He  made  reconciliation  for  iniq-
uity,  when  He  finished  the  transgression.  God  put  His  seal  on  the
vision and prophecy at the cross. And 490 years equals 70 weeks; that
is, 70 x 7 = 490. Immediately we see the precise fulfillment of Daniel
9:24-25.

Although the Cross begins the end in 33A.D., it is'nt until 40 days later that the whole prophesy comes to completion with Jesus' ascension.

There are a wonderful 490 years from the year 458B.C. when the decree went out to rebuild Jerusalem until the Cross and Jesus' ascension in 33A.D. .

Sultan Suleiman's command
to rebuild Jerusalem in 1535

The Ottoman Empire existed from 1299 until 1922. It was basically the eastern half of the defunct Roman Empire. Sultan Suleiman was the most powerful and wealthiest of the Ottoman Empire and was known as Suleiman the Just. He welcomed the Jews whom were cast out of other nations especially Spain.

His father before him took the territory of Israel from Egypt. In 1535 Suleiman made a decree to rebuild Jerusalem. Although there were many attempts beforehand in history to rebuild Jerusalem, this was the first time in 1,465 years that it actually came through and was built since the Romans destroyed it in 70A.D..

This information is historically known and is readily available online. Even the Jewish historical websites clarify this fantastic data.
Now lets continue...
Daniel 9:25-27
25 Know therefore and understandthat from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.  27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

The Lord now gives us an alternate view of His plan within Daniel 9:25-27. The information is split between Daniel 9:25 and Daniel 9:26-27 (see Harold Camping's 70 weeks of Daniel 9).

Daniel 9:25 describes the exact timing from the command to rebuild Jerusalem in 458B.C. until Jesus' time of testimony in 29A.D..
Daniel 9:26-27 are describing the occurrences that happen after the time of testimony (Jesus' 3 1/2 year ministry & the Church Age). These verses have a massive amount of information. And only the Lord could use these verses to describe two separate time periods at the same time! Take a close look below and compare the two separate pathways to which the Lord takes us. They are phenomenally accurate.
1
God always establishes the command during the first part of His salvation plan. It also always begins as a time of testimony. Daniel 9:25 refers to Jesus as the Messiah the Prince when He starts His ministry. The Church Age also mirrors this time of ministry.
2
In both instances God is no longer represented within His earthly kingdom whether it be Jesus or the Holy Spirit. We see within the second part that it is a time of no testimony. There is a civil war within the kingdom. Without the Messiah/Holy Spirit there is no salvation.
Spiritual completeness of the Feasts
Although always present after God's 4-part salvation plan has ended, it is separate because it is the start of a new period. Notice how there is a short time period between Jesus' ascension and also the Elect's rapture before His people worship the Lord at His mandatory Feast.
3
The third part always ends with God's judgment. In Daniel 9 God describes the 3 days of testimony as Jesus showed and taught only to His disciples after the Cross, all others were cut off... ending as a flood. And the same comparison as the 6100 Days ending as Noah's Flood.
4
4th part - always completes the salvation plan period. It's a waiting period for His people as the unsaved are desolate & under tribulation. The outcome is as: Elijah/Jesus/Elect ascending. The fourth part almost always ends with the number 37 representing judgment is complete.

The Church's time of testimony
until the final Rapture in 2025

The city is rebuilt
25 Know therefore and understandthat from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.

This verse (above) describes the time of the command to rebuild Jerusalem during the Church Age's time of testimony .

1. God is cut off - 1988 began the 2300 Days when the Holy Spirit left the Church
2. The city & sanctuary destroyed - 1994 began the 6100 Days when Babylon was fallen
3. End thereof shall be with a flood - 2011 began the 5100 Days when Judgment Day began
4. End of the war desolations - 2025 will be The Rapture when the desolations shall end

The covenant to the 144,000 (Church Age)
Church Age + 2300 Days [3 1/2 + 3 1/2 = 7 (1 week)]
2. Sacrifice ceases midst of the week
The "daily sacrifice" ends halfway through the week
The 2300 Days marks the 2nd half of the week (3 1/2)
3. Desolate until the consummation
The Church remains desolate without God until The End
The consummation means completion or complete destruction

Ottoman Building Inscription
(1494 - 1566) Sultan Suleiman was the strongest and longest reigning ruler. He decreed in 1535 that the city of Jerusalem be rebuilt, its walls and the Muslim temple the Dome of the rock. The image to the right is the actual building inscription stone detailing the construction. Below is the translation.

“Has decreed the construction of the wall he who has protected the home of Islam with his might and main and wiped out the tyranny of idols with his power and strength, he whom alone God has enabled to enslave the necks of kings in countries (far and wide) and deservedly acquire the throne of the Caliphate, the Sultan son of the Sultan son of the Sultan son of the Sultan, Suleiman.”
