ACTS 27:1 - 44
Two Separate Ships

Paul's Journey

Under supreme authority

Acts 27:1   And when it was determined that we should sail into Italy, they delivered Paul and certain other prisoners unto one named Julius, a centurion of Augustus' band.

The Ship

Acts 27:2   And entering into a ship of Adramyttium, we launched, meaning to sail by the coasts of Asia;...

Two Witnesses

one Aristarchus, a Macedonian of Thessalonica, being with us.

Liberty/Freedom

Acts 27:3   And the next day we touched at Sidon. And Julius courteously entreated Paul, and gave him liberty to go unto his friends to refresh himself.

Boarding the final Ship

Acts 27:4   And when we had launched from thence, we sailed under Cyprus, because the winds were contrary.

Acts 27:5   And when we had sailed over the sea of Cilicia and Pamphylia, we came to Myra, a city of Lycia.

Acts 27:6   And there the centurion found a ship of Alexandria sailing into Italy; and he put us therein.

A Time of Tarrying

  Acts 27:7   And when we had sailed slowly many days, and scarce were come over against Cnidus, the wind not suffering us, we sailed under Crete, over against Salmone;

Acts 27:8   And, hardly passing it, came unto a place which is called The fair havens; nigh whereunto was the city of Lasea.

A Time Of Danger After The Fast

Acts 27:9   Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them,

Acts 27:10   And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.

Acts 27:11   Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul.

Winter Season

Acts 27:12   And because the haven was not commodious to winter in, the more part advised to depart thence also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice, and there to winter; which is an haven of Crete, and lieth toward the south west and north west.

A False "Peace And Safety"

Acts 27:13   And when the south wind blew softly, supposing that they had obtained their purpose, loosing thence, they sailed close by Crete.

The Winds Are Released

Acts 27:14   But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called Euroclydon.

Acts 27:15   And when the ship was caught, and could not bear up into the wind, we let her drive.

Acts 27:16   And running under a certain island which is called Clauda, we had much work to come by the boat:

Acts 27:17   Which when they had taken up, they used helps, undergirding the ship; and, fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands, strake sail, and so were driven.

  Acts 27:18   And we being exceedingly tossed with a tempest, the next day they lightened the ship;

Acts 27:19   And the third day we cast out with our own hands the tackling of the ship.

The Light Is Gone

Acts 27:20   And when neither sun nor stars in many days appeared, and no small tempest lay on us, all hope that we should be saved was then taken away.

Acts 27:21   But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.

All Are Protected

Acts 27:22   And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of any man's life among you, but of the ship.

Paul knew their journey was about to end

Acts 27:23   For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,

Acts 27:24   Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.

Acts 27:25   Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I believe God, that it shall be even as it was told me.

Acts 27:26   Howbeit we must be cast upon a certain island.

The 14th Night About Midnight Dry Land is deemed Close

Acts 27:27   But when the fourteenth night was come, as we were driven up and down in Adria, about midnight the shipmen deemed that they drew near to some country;

A Measurement Of 15 Above The Ground

Acts 27:28   And sounded, and found it twenty fathoms: and when they had gone a little further, they sounded again, and found it fifteen fathoms.

Acts 27:29   Then fearing lest we should have fallen upon rocks, they cast four anchors out of the stern, and wished for the day.

No other Way

Acts 27:30   And as the shipmen were about to flee out of the ship, when they had let down the boat into the sea, under colour as though they would have cast anchors out of the foreship,

Acts 27:31   Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved.

Acts 27:32   Then the soldiers cut off the ropes of the boat, and let her fall off.

Waiting & Fasting During The 14 Days

Acts 27:33   And while the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take meat, saying, This day is the fourteenth day that ye have tarried and continued fasting, having taken nothing.

Acts 27:34   Wherefore I pray you to take some meat: for this is for your health: for there shall not an hair fall from the head of any of you.

Acts 27:35   And when he had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in presence of them all: and when he had broken it, he began to eat.

Acts 27:36   Then were they all of good cheer, and they also took some meat.

Those Whom Came Out Of Great Trouble

Acts 27:37   And we were in all in the ship two hundred threescore and sixteen (276) souls.

Last Supper

Acts 27:38   And when they had eaten enough, they lightened the ship, and cast out the wheat into the sea.

Heading Towards The Light

Acts 27:39   And when it was day, they knew not the land: but they discovered a certain creek with a shore, into the which they were minded, if it were possible, to thrust in the ship.

Heading Out

Acts 27:40   And when they had taken up the anchors, they committed themselves unto the sea, and loosed the rudder bands, and hoised up the mainsail to the wind, and made toward shore.

Pleasant Land

Acts 27:41   And falling into a place where two seas met,...

Unmovable

Acts 27:41 continued -  ... they ran the ship aground; and the forepart stuck fast, and remained unmoveable, but the hinder part was broken with the violence of the waves.

Life By Mercy

Acts 27:42   And the soldiers' counsel was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim out, and escape.

Acts 27:43   But the centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from their purpose; and commanded that they which could swim should cast themselves first into the sea, and get to land:

Safety In A Far Country

Acts 27:44   And the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.
A wonderful correlation

Under supreme authority

Right at the start of Acts 27 we see a correlation between Paul's journey and the Elect's journey of this Final Great Tribulation.
* Paul was under the authority of Julius, a centurion of Augustus' band.
The Augustus band was created by the first Roman Emperor Augustus himself.
* The Great Multitude are under the authority of Jesus, captain of our salvation of God the Father.

John 5:26-27   For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;  27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

Hebrews 2:10   For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

Revelation 20:6   Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christand shall reign with him a thousand years.

The Ship
6100 Days

This ship is not of the Promised Land, yet neither of Egypt. For if it was of the Promised Land it would be of the Church Age carrying the 153 fish yet if it was of Egypt (the world) it would represent Noah's Ark during this final waiting period. Therefore it appears to represent a ship in the world yet not of it.

There are 3 spiritual ships within God's salvation plan.
1. The Church Age (1955 years)
2. The Great Multitude Period (the 6100 days)
3. Noah's Ark (these 5100 days after Judgment Day).
Once saved, God's people are never found within the sea. But the unsaved are of the sea as we read in the Book of Jude:

Jude 1:13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.

Even when Jonah was tossed into the sea he was protected from and kept out of the sea by a large fish:

Jonah 1:15 So they took up Jonah, and cast him forth into the sea: and the sea ceased from her raging.
Jonah 1:17 Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

Paul's life: a picture of God's salvation plan
This ship in Acts 27:2 is representative of the Great Multitude Period (6100 days). How do we know this? The Church Age was represented before Saul became saved as the ship with 153 fish (John 21). The Church was under persecution to which Saul was also involved and he also came under persecution (this is a picture of the 2300 Days). Paul is a representative of the Elect whom came out of the Final Great Tribulation and boarded this second ship of salvation during the 6100 Days. The sailors controlled the sailing of the ship and there was no raging sea.  There must always be a spiritual ship or equivalent (Jonah = great fish) because God's people can not be found within the sea.

Two Witnesses

This second verse also emphasizes the fact that Paul was not alone. God specifically includes that Paul's fellowworker of the kingdom was also with him. We see this close relationship explained in the following verse:

Colossians 4:10-11  Aristarchus my fellowprisoner saluteth you, and Marcus, sister's son to Barnabas, (touching whom ye received commandments: if he come unto you, receive him;)  11 And Jesus, which is called Justus, who are of the circumcisionThese only are my fellowworkers unto the kingdom of God, which have been a comfort unto me.

This is yet another example that this ship that they boarded represented the Great Multitude of the 6100 Days. Although there were others within the ship Paul and Aristarchus were the main focus and being close fellowworkers of the Kingdom. This corresponds with the 2 Witnesses arising in Revelation 11 at the start of the 6100 Days as the walls of Babylon fell.

Revelation 11:3,12-13 (abridged)
And I will give power unto my two witnesses...
And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them. And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

Liberty/Freedom

As we can see Paul has liberty/freedom. This follows our liberty/freedom from sin throughout the 6100 Days as the Great Multitude which no man could number was continuously being saved.

Galations 5:1
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

Boarding the final Ship
5100 Days

Notice that they switched ships. From the ship of salvation (outside the Church) to the ship of waiting within the Ark. This final ship in Paul's journey is of Alexandria (Egypt). As per Noah, this Egyptian ship is representative of the Elect riding out the storm, never again having additional souls boarded. Egypt is a symbol of the World.

Matthew 24:38-39
For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

A Time Of Tarrying

This voyage has taken longer than any of the Elect had expected. We did not expect these trying times of waiting. We must retain patience.

Matthew 25:5   While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

Hebrews 10:35-39   Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

A Time Of Danger After The Fast

Here we see a distinction between this final ship and the first one within Paul's journey. It is now stated that at this time it is now dangerous because the fast is now past. This can only be referring to the Day of Atonement due to the timing of the season. It is winter. Strong's also identifies this as the Day of Atonement. If the Atonement is past, then there is no longer a covering for our transgressions - no salvation. This is why it is a dangerous time/great affliction during our time. We see this within the scripture below referring to these 5100 Days:

Mark 13:19   For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.

Winter Season

Mark 13:17-19  But woe to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!  18 And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter.  19 For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.

We can clearly see that there is an emphases on winter being a dangerous time both for Paul's journey and also within this period of time of our 5100 Days.

A False "Peace And Safety"

When nothing physically happened after Judgment Day (M21), the world went on as usual. Even a majority of the 2011 believers, being dismayed, did'nt understand where they "stood" and questioned themselves... could we have been wrong - is there still salvation (peace & safety)?

Matthew 25:5
While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

The Winds Are Released

If we look at the definition of the word, "Euroclydon", we find that it refers to a strong wind from the east or southeast. Both of these directions refer to the Lord throughout scripture. Judgment has come upon the world from the Lord.

Ezekiel 43:4  And the glory of the LORD came into the house by the way of the gate whose prospect is toward the east.

Daniel 8:9  And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land.

Both directions of the east & south represent the Lord's pleasant land.

Verse 15 gives us another clue. The shipmen were not in control of the vessel. This mirrors Noah's Ark. There were no sails constructed for the Ark. Its journey was directed by the Lord just as Paul's final ship was.

The Light Is Gone

Mark 13:24-25  But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.

We see that there was no light both during Paul's final ship journey and the Great Multitude's final ship journey (the Ark). Remember that the Church Age was the first ship of 153. This Final Great Tribulation which the Great Multitude comes out of is represented with 2 ships mirroring Paul's journey...
the first ship represented the 6100 Days of salvation/liberty while this second ship represents Noah's Ark of waiting in these days of turmoil.

All Are Protected

John 18:9  That the saying might be fulfilled, which he spake, Of them which thou gavest me have I lost none.

Genesis 7:23   And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.

Just like Noah's Ark, both ships had a one way voyage, never to set sail again. All life within the Ark was safe.

The Elect will know when their journey is about to End

Paul was given helpful information when everyone's spirits fell with desperation. He was promised that all would be safe on dry land soon. It appears that Paul received this helpful information from the Lord about halfway through their 14 day storm (verses 19 & 20). We too have received a little informational help about halfway through our 14 years of riding out the storm.

Daniel 11:31-35   And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate 32 And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits 33 And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoilmany days.  34 Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries.  35 And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them whiteeven to the time of the endbecause it is yet for a time appointed.

Daniel 11:31-35 describes our full 3-part Great Tribulation. Beginning with the 2300 Days of polluting the sanctuary, then the 6100 Days of understanding and instructing many, and finally these 5100 Days of "falling" but receiving additional help from God and the continuance of these 1600 furlongs within the winepress of trying/purging until the End.

The 14th Night About Midnight Dry Land is deemed Close

This 14th night within the 2nd ship of Paul's journey corresponds exactly with our 14 years (5100 days) after entering the Ark. For we will see that it is at the end of this fourteenth night that they were able to transfer to "some country". It so appears that at the end of our 14th year that the Elect will be Raptured to "a far country". As we study the parable of the 10 virgins we acknowledge that we were prematurely ready to meet the Bridegroom at Judgment Day (May 21, 2011) but up until now we have not yet heard the "cry" to actually meet Him. His Elect will all hear and know the "cry" of when He shall return before that great final day within the 14th year. Paul's constant days of night corresponds with our constant darkness.

Matt 25:6  And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

Matt 25:14  For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

A Measurement Of 15 Above The Ground

These fifteen fathoms are amazing. They signify a link between Paul's ship and Noah's Ark. The shipmen were grounded with their anchors at 15 fathoms... about midnight (about halfway through their night). So too was the Ark grounded on the mountains of Ararat on the 7th month (the 6th month of the Flood/halfway through their turmoil) during which according to scripture the waters covered the mountains by fifteen cubits on the final 150th day. The waters of Noah's Flood remained strong for a full 150 days after which they then began to lower.

* The raging sea was 15 fathoms above the ground for Paul.
* The raging sea was 15 cubits above the ground for Noah.

Genesis 7:20   Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.

Genesis 7:24   And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.

Genesis 8:4   And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.

Genesis 8:5   And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month: in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen.

This correlation also represents the symbolic Ark to which the Elect are currently in. All His Elect will know of His return before the final hours when the morning brightness of the Son returns. God has allowed His Elect to understand and perceive when our Holy Land in Heaven will approach in 2025.

No other Way

We must rely and trust in the Lord and remain within the Ark. We can not make our own way to Heaven nor seek additional guidance from the Church, "let down the boat into the sea".  The additional boat/lifeboat that is cut loose shows that there is no other way to Heaven. This ship is it. We must continue to cut off all ties to any church and solely rely on the Lord in these last days.

Matthew 22:11-12  And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:  12 And he saith unto himFriend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.  13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

John 1:10  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

Waiting & Fasting During These 14 Years

Luke 25:35-37  Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;  36 And ye yourselves like unto men that wait (tarry) for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.  37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching

Matthew 9:14  And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from themand then shall they fast.

The Elect have been waiting and fasting within these final 14 years since the Light (Jesus Christ) has been taken out of this World. He reigned with us for the entire 6100 Days of testimony but awaits in Heaven until the day of His return.

Those Whom Came Out Of The Great Tribulation

This number of souls within the ship is strikingly phenomenal. These are they which came from Paul's previous ship with him which represented our ship of the Great Multitude Period. The 6100 Days.

Revelation 7:13-14   And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?  And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Remember that Paul's first ship of his journey represented the ship of salvation, the 6100 days. He himself is a representative of the Great Multitude which no man can number. In fact, every one of the 276 souls are representatives of the Great Multitude which endured the 8400 day Great Tribulation. Why would God specifically number the souls at 276? There is always a spiritual reason... just as the 153 fish in the ship of the Church Age had a reason of representation.

As it turns out, our Final Great Tribulation was exactly 23 years which equalled an exact 8400 days which in turn equalled an exact 276 months! The Great Multitude came out of 276 months of Great Tribulation and are now riding within the final ship of Noah's Ark. That's why they identify with the number 276.    God is so good.

Last Supper

Notice this is the 14th night... the final hours. They ate their last meal just as we will eat our last spiritual meal here on Earth before being raptured. They cast out the remaining food because they had no more use for it. Just as the Elect will no longer have use for spiritual food meant for this World. The Elect will be with the Lord. Normally the wheat represents saved individuals but in this case it appears to simply represent food, in our case it would be spiritual food. We will no longer have need of inspired knowledge from the Lord concerning these End Days. It also seems to point to the fact that the Lord will not give us spiritual food to know the final hours even at the very End concerning when He will return. This aligns perfectly with Revelation 10:4-7:

And when the seven thunders had uttered their voicesI was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto meSeal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.  5 And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven,  6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are thereinthat there should be time no longer:  7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

Heading Towards The Light

There is no darkness within Heaven. The Elect will see the Light. Jesus is the Light.

Matt 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man (Light) coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Heading Out

Matt 25:7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.

Pleasant Land

Daniel 11:45   And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

We find a glorious comparison of God's Holy Kingdom within Daniel 11:45. It is in the center of two seas. Alas, the Elect shall find themselves flying in the sky towards this Holy Kingdom on that Last Day!

Unmovable

Hebrews 12:28   Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear

Those within the Ark will come ashore to Heaven safely. But those whom are outside the Ark within the raging sea will be left behind unable to board the Ark as it disintegrates before their very eyes, never to be used again.

Life by Mercy

We are all sinners and none deserve salvation. It is only by God's mercy that we are aloud to enter righteousness. No person knows who is truly saved and who is not.

Safety In A Far Country

This is the far country we are all yearning for... Heaven.

Matt 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

They landed on the SOUTH side of the island. As stated before, God and His Promised Land always refers to either/or the east and south. There have been numerous studies on Paul's shipwreck but here is a link to a very comprehensive research: http://khouse.org/articles/2004/503
Saul/Paul's life - a representation of our Final Great Tribulation

When we compare Acts 27 to our Final Great Tribulation we find the similarities are frighteningly fantastic!

Most of the Book of Acts deals with the life of Saul/Paul. His life appears to represent this Final Great Tribulation.

The Church Age began as represented as the boat bringing in the 153 fish.

The 2300 Days are represented as Saul's persecution of the Church before Jesus opened his eyes.

He eventually boarded the ship of Adramyttium in peaceful calm waters (the 6100 days).

He was then transferred to the Alexandrian ship during the raging sea which represents our present day Noah's Ark. This follows God's fantastic pattern of the number three...  3 ships.
